Youth Council


3rd Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (Meetings are held during the CCS academic year. )




Charlottesville City School students between the ages of 13 and 17. Membership shall include at least (2) middle school students, (2) students from each grade level at Charlottesville High School (attendance zones: Burnley-Moran, Clark, Greenbrier, Jackson-Via, Johnson, Venable), (1) student from the Lugo-McGinness Academy and (5) At-large members who attend a private school or homeschool that is located within the City of Charlottesville or are an out-of-district CCS student.

To advise City Council, inform the community about issues that affect the youth, and make recommendations for how Charlottesville can be a better city.

Youth who serve on the Council meet monthly, receive leadership training, are given opportunities to travel to national Youth Council conferences, and have the chance to make a real difference in the community.
