[ARCHIVED] CPD to Dedicate New Memorial in Recognition of Fallen Officers

The Charlottesville Police Department is dedicating a new memorial to the department’s fallen officers, as well as two Virginia State Police troopers who have died in the line of duty.

Over the past several months, Lieutenant Marc Brake and a team of officers from CPD have worked tirelessly to showcase the history of our department from over a century ago through pictures and memorabilia. This new memorial, located inside police department headquarters, was a part of several additions during their hard work on this project.

The dedication also marks the close of National Police Week, when we as a nation honor law enforcement officers who have tragically died in the line of duty. 128 officers across the United States were killed in 2019.

The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2020. Due to physical distancing guidelines, it will be livestreamed for the public on the Charlottesville Police Department’s Facebook page. The itinerary is as follows:
