[ARCHIVED] Please be respectful and responsible, and remember to vote

City-County-CPD-ACPD

A joint statement from your local Commonwealth's Attorneys and Chiefs of Police

One week from today, on Tuesday November 3, citizens in the City of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle will exercise their right to vote.

As the Attorney General of Virginia recently wrote, “The right to exercise the franchise in a free and unimpaired manner is a bedrock principle in any free and democratic society.”

While our expectation is for an orderly and peaceable election day, our organizations and offices are committed to investigating and prosecuting any violation of the law that involves the intimidation or harassment of citizens seeking to vote. Please be respectful, responsible, and remember to vote.
