CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The City of Charlottesville is under a Winter Storm Warning until 6 a.m. Friday, February 19.  City of Charlottesville government offices will  open on a 2-hour delay at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021.

The Charlottesville Police Department would like to remind the community to stay safe on and off of the roads during this winter storm. Streets and sidewalks will likely become treacherous, which will make any type of travel extremely difficult. Our officers will be working around the clock to assist you during emergencies, but  avoid all non-essential travel. If you must travel, please drive slowly and allow extra time to arrive at your destination.

  • City of Charlottesville government offices - Opening at 10 a.m.
  • Charlottesville Circuit Court & Clerk’s Office - Opening at 10 a.m.
  • Trash collection service by County Waste in Charlottesville was NOT conducted THURSDAY.  This release, the website, and social media will be updated by 7 a.m. Friday with further information on the trash collection schedule.

CURRENT CONDITIONS

  • The City of Charlottesville Public Works crews have been clearing streets all day Thursday. Road conditions at 5p.m. vary from poor to moderate. Secondary roads are largely untouched at this point. Crews will be working with a fully staffed night shift to continue working primary and secondary roads.
Stay off the snowy and icy roads if possible, but if you have to go out remember: Ice and snow, take it slow—slower speed, slower acceleration, slower steering, and slower braking. #WinterSafety.
