UPDATE: June 3, 2021 (2:00 p.m.): The Charlottesville Police Department is relieved to report that Josette, Gia, and Tea Carter have been safely located.

 

CPD is extremely grateful to the thousands of concerned individuals who called in tips, and shared our social media posts. We would also like to thank the Virginia State Police, FBI, and the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in locating Josette and her children.

The Charlottesville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a mother and her two children whjosette carter 3o were reported missing on today’s date, Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

Tea Carter, a 2-year-old-female, and her sister Gia Carter, a 1-year-old female, were last seen with their mother, Josette Carter, a 42-yejosette carter ar-old female, on Tuesday morning in the 1600 block of Greenleaf Lane.

Tea is approximately 2’11’’ tall, 37 lbs., and has brown hair and brown eyes. Gia is approximately 2’4’’ tall, 19 lbs. and has brown hair and brown eyes. Josette is approximately 5’4’’ tall, 180 lbs., and has brown hair and blue eyes.

Josette is believed to be driving a blue 2016 Chrysler minivan with Virginia tags: UKW-3271.

While this case does not currently meet the criteria for a state-issued AMBER Alert, the Charlottesville Police Department is deeply concerned about their welfare.
