Recovery Grant to Continue Assistance for City Businesses Affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - In response to the continued impact that COVID-19 is having on businesses in the Charlottesville community, the City of Charlottesville Office of Economic Development (OED) and the Charlottesville Economic Development Authority (CEDA), are continuing business assistance initiatives to support City businesses during this time. This effort is part of OED’s Recovery Roadmap: A Plan for Business Recovery In Charlottesville that was recently announced. The plan’s purpose is to holistically and thoughtfully assist businesses throughout the City as they recover from the pandemic. These grants are one of the first initiatives of the Recovery Roadmap plan.

The OED will be offering another round of the Building Resilience Among Charlottesville Entrepreneurs (BRACE) Grant. In April of 2020, BRACE grants helped 69 City businesses survive the early days of the pandemic. BRACE Grant 2.0 is intended to help businesses gain resiliency and adapt in response to a threat such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Building Resilience Among Charlottesville Entrepreneurs (BRACE) Grant 2.0:

  • Grants up to $2,500 for City businesses, with a business contribution of 30% of the grant request
  • Focused on resiliency efforts
  • Online application process with an interview
  • Pre-application webinar will be held on July 8th at 3:30pm
  • Reimbursements turned around in seven to ten business days
  • Online application will be released on July 12th

With this round of grants over $2 million dollars has been awarded to the City business community since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Interested businesses should check the Office of Economic Development’s website to stay informed on the grant and other assistance programs – www.charlottesville.org/econdev. Businesses can also contact the OED to be added to the email distribution list, which will be notified when program application becomes available. As always, businesses are also welcome to contact our office with any business needs. For more information, please email ecodev@charlottesville.org or call 434-970-3110.
