[ARCHIVED] Charlottesville Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

July 24, 2021


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The Charlottesville Police Department has arrested and charged 37-year-old David Lapides of the City of Charlottesville with the following:

  1. Possession of Child Pornography (2 counts, Virginia Code 18.2-374.1:1)
  2. Possession of Child Pornography with Intent to Distribute (Virginia Code 18.2-374.1:1)

Through the regional Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force, a cyber-tip was received leading to a Charlottesville Police Department investigation with the assistance of the Albemarle Police Department. 

Lapides is being held at the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Jail. 

A charge does not constitute evidence of guilt. Every person is entitled to a presumption of innocence until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
