CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -
Charlottesville Utilities is excited to announce the launch of new and improved online bill payment services. Responding to feedback from this year’s Customer Satisfaction Survey, Utilities now offers customers paperless billing, pay-by-text, and enhanced automatic payment options.

These expanded bill pay services provide features that deliver convenient, secure, and environmentally friendly means to pay utility bills, and remain informed of account activity. Managed by Invoice Cloud, the new portal acts as the customer’s account hub, giving them the ability to view and manage their utility account 24/7.

Customers can make easy one-time payments, enroll in paperless billing and pay-by-text services, or register for automatic payments. Paperless billing and automatic payments deliver prompt email or text message notification when a bill is ready to view, giving the customer the ability to pay when they desire, eliminating the potential for delivery delays, and providing peace of mind that their bill is paid in full and on time.

Enhanced features with Invoice Cloud include notification via email or text confirming that a bill has been paid, if a payment is late, and when a scheduled payment is pending. Customers are also able to view their bills online.

In addition to streamlining the bill payment process, paperless billing helps households reduce their environmental impact by eliminating the need for paper printing and traditional delivery methods. Paperless billing also helps save the City, and ultimately the customer money, by eliminating costs required for printing and postage. One account on paperless billing saves almost $6.00 per year, so this could equal more than $125,000 in annual savings. So far more than 1,700 customers have already signed up for paperless billing during the recent soft launch period and have made the move to a simplified, secure, and resource conscious way to pay their utility bills.
