Officer Kaitlyn McKeown has been a police officer with the Charlottesville Police Department since 2015. She began her career as a patrol officer on evening and daylight shift before transitioning to a school resource officer at Charlottesville High School.
She uses her role as an SRO to bridge the gap between police officers and the Charlottesville community. Her passion and drive to be involved in the community has given her opportunities to participate in numerous community events such as: Cops for Kids, Ice Cream with a Cop, the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Polar Plunge, which helps raise money for Special Olympics Virginia.
She was also instrumental in helping start The First Tee program and Stuff the Cruiser.
