The trails along the shoreline will close in sections as the contractor works to remove the trees along the shore that will be inundated with the new water level. City staff and volunteers are currently rebuilding the trail sections that will be flooded to higher locations so the trails will already be in place when the reservoir work is done and the full trail system reopens.
During the construction, public access to the upper parking lot by the dam will be closed. Trail users can park at the lower Heyward Forest lot and walk into the Ragged Mountain trails via Roundtop Mountain.
Boat access will be restricted during the project, but shore fishing is still allowed on open trails.
