  • All equipment (footballs, pennies, flag belts/flags, etc...) will be provided by the league. All players must wear a mouthguard to participate. Cleats with no medal spikes are recommended, but optional.

  • Practices are scheduled on weeknights organized by designated teams. Practice and game locations include: Washington Park Lower Field, City of Charlottesville Elementary School, and Darden Towe Park.

    Practices and Games

    • One practice per week (weekday evening)
    • One game per week (Saturdays AM)
    • Games held at local parks and recreation fields or city school fields

  • The financial aid program is available to City of Charlottesville residents only. Eligibility for financial aid is based upon gross annual income and household size. Proper documentation must be submitted in order to be considered for eligibility. If the applicant does not have the required documentation, then he or she must have income verified by the City of Charlottesville’s Department of Social Services, using the department’s standard income verification processes and methods. Children who are under the custody of the City of Charlottesville’s Department of Social Services are also eligible.

  • All youth flag football coaches are volunteers. Coaches are actively needed and can sign-up during registration and/or contact the Athletics Programs Manager at athletics@charlottesville.gov or by calling 434-970-3271.

  • Call (434) 970-3593 to reach the Inclement Weather Hotline for live/league related updates: 

    1. A decision will be made to cancel by 4:00 pm weekly. If rain occurs after 4:00 pm the decision to cancel will be made on-site.
    2. Games that are rained out are typically rescheduled to the next available Saturday.
    3. All parents, coaches, and participants will receive alerts when inclement weather situations occur with detailed information.
