City of Charlottesville Seeks Public Input on Draft ADA Transition Plan Update
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City of Charlottesville invites members of the community to review and provide feedback on the draft Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan Update, which was presented at the City Council’s most recent meeting on April 7.
The ADA Transition Plan ensures the residents and visitors of the City of Charlottesville have full access to its programs, services, and activities. It is a document that outlines how a public entity, like the City of Charlottesville, will make its facilities, programs, and services accessible to people with disabilities, so that those community members do not have limitations on their quality of life. The City of Charlottesville is committed to meeting the accessibility needs of disabled individuals. This ADA Transition Plan Update works to improve on our previously completed ADA Transition Plans. It includes not only the required information for an ADA Transition Plan, but also components specifically requested by the City of Charlottesville to help our organization continuously review accessibility in a meaningful way.
Community members are invited to review the draft plan, available on the City’s website under the page focused on our TRANSITION PLAN (link). Feedback can be submitted online at ada@charlottesville.gov or at 434-987-1267. The City requests that feedback be submitted no later than April 16, 2025 in order to be prioritized for incorporation in a second accessible draft for the City Council's consideration.
