City of Charlottesville Encourages Public Participation in VDOT Project Pipeline Surveys
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City of Charlottesville invites residents to participate in two public surveys launched by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) as part of ongoing Project Pipeline transportation studies in the region.
The surveys offer community members an opportunity to provide input on potential transportation improvements that impact both the City and surrounding areas.
The two studies include:
U.S. 29 (Near I-64 Exit 118)

This project focuses on improving vehicle safety at the U.S. 29/I-64 interchange in Albemarle County. While not a direct City-led initiative, the project addresses a key regional travel corridor that benefits Charlottesville residents and commuters.5th Street Corridor

This study focuses on the 5th Street area, which crosses the City/County boundary. The project aims to improve traffic flow and enhance bicycle and pedestrian connectivity between Charlottesville and southern Albemarle County. It is being advanced as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)-sponsored initiative.
Residents are encouraged to review the proposed alternatives and share their feedback before the surveys close on November 21, 2025.
