City of Charlottesville Facilities Closed Tuesday, January 27 Due to Weather

City of Charlottesville Facilities Closed Tuesday, January 27 Due to Weather; Services and Community Resources Remain Available 

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA –  Due to continued winter weather conditions and impacts across the region, City Hall and all City of Charlottesville facilities will be closed again tomorrow to protect public safety. 

While City facilities are closed, City staff who are able to work remotely will continue working and remain available to support community needs. Essential employees, including snow and ice crews and public safety personnel, will continue working around the clock to clear roadways, respond to emergencies, and help keep the community safe. 

Residents are encouraged to continue limiting travel where possible and to use caution in icy conditions. 

Warming Centers 
The City reminds residents of the following warming center options: 

Key Recreation Center 

  • Address: 800 E. Market Street 
  • Hours: Open as a warming center tomorrow from 10 AM – 10 PM 
  • Pets are welcome; however, pets must be kept in a crate at all times while inside the facility to ensure the safety of all guests. 

Clemons Library 

  • Address: 164 McCormick Road  
  • Hours: Open as a warming center tomorrow from 10 AM – 10 PM

Shelter Options 
Community partners continue to provide shelter services: 

PACEM 

  • Men’s Shelter: University Baptist Church, 1223 W. Main Street 
  • Women’s Shelter: Belmont Baptist Church, 830 Monticello Avenue 

Salvation Army 

  • 24/7 operations 
  • Warm rooms open for men and women (supported by PACEM) 
  • Meals maintained on a regular schedule 

The Haven

  • Emergency operations activated 
  • Extended sheltering hours and additional supports available

Charlottesville City Schools – Free Student Meals 
Charlottesville City Schools will be offering free meals for students during the weather-related closure. Details and locations are available at: https://www.parentsquare.com/feeds/70437923&nbsp

Transit and Parking Updates 

  • Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT): Operating hours on Tuesday will be from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM and routes will be determined and shared in the morning. MicroCAT service will be determined and announced in the morning as well.  
  • Free Parking: To help keep streets clear and allow snow crews to continue operations, free parking will be available in the Water Street and Market Street garages until 9:00 AM on Wednesday.
