Permit Applications Portal
After creating an account and logging in, create a new application and select Traffic Engineering as the Application Type. The following options are available for permits:
- Change Public Parking Request
Petition to add/change/remove public parking spaces or no parking zones. - Handicap Parking Spot Request

Apply for a yearly pass to on-street residential parking in a permit parking zone. - Street Light Installation/Removal
Petition to have a traffic signal installed/removed from an intersection. - Temporary Parking Spot Closure

Apply for a permit to perform construction/maintenance work in the public right of way. For direct assistance, contact the Assistant Traffic Engineer at (434) 970-3185 or by email: sampsonp@charlottesville.gov. - Traffic Calming Request
Submit potential design issues for study—in a roadway, an intersection, or street signage. - Vehicular Access to Mall
Apply for temporary permission to park a vehicle on the downtown mall.
