Every year the City Council approves the utility rates for gas, water and sewer. This usually happens in June and the new rates are reflected on the August bills.
All three utilities are designed to operate on a break-even basis over time, although weather conditions and other factors can produce an economic gain or loss in any year. The rates are designed to cover:
- The supply costs for the projected consumer requirements
- The budgeted funding requirements for current operations
