Green Building Policy

On September 2, 2008, the Charlottesville City Council adopted a resolution to implement green building practices for City construction projects.

Green building practices are a strategy to reduce and minimize environmental impacts. Green building is the practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings use resources - energy, water, and material - while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment, through better siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal.
