Whether you are an individual, business, civic or social organization, you can help Parks & Recreation maintain our lovely city with your generous donation of time and/or monetary contribution!

Volunteers are valued partners in the Parks and Recreation Department!  No experience is necessary for many tasks. All tools, work gloves, and supplies are provided.

  • Trail or Natural Area Projects

Currently, we are focusing volunteer efforts on removing invasive plant species and vines from our urban forests, parks, and schools. We also have projects improving trails and cleaning up streams. To volunteer for trail or natural area projects. Please email trails@charlottesville.gov or call 434-970-3656

  • Youth

We support scouting organizations and other groups who provide programs for youth to participate in community service projects, such as building park benches and small trail bridges. For more information  email Charlottesville Parks & Recreation or call 434-970-3589.

  • Senior Recreation Programs

Senior Recreation programs are also in need of volunteers that can provide weekly time commitments. Email Senior Recreation Programs
