Tree Work on 5th Street SW Scheduled to Begin February 16
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Charlottesville Parks & Recreation Department will remove several trees along the southbound lane of 5th Street between Cherry Avenue and Harris Road intersections. This work will require closure of the right-hand lane in the affected area.
Tree work will begin February 16, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and will conclude by Friday, February 20 (weather permitting). Traffic will be reduced to a single through lane while tree work is occurring. Work zones will be clearly marked with construction cones, signage, and traffic control devices to direct vehicles safely through the area.
Pedestrians and motorists are advised to remain alert, follow posted signage, and exercise caution when traveling near the work zone.
