City to Host Final Public Meeting on Design of Neighborhood’s First Public Park

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Charlottesville Parks & Recreation Department will host the third and final public meeting in a series focused on designing The Meadows neighborhood’s first public park. The meeting, which will be held on Thursday, February 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Meadows Presbyterian Church (2200 Angus Road), will give residents an opportunity to review and provide feedback on a draft concept plan for the site.

The proposed pocket park is located on an approximately 0.25-acre parcel of moderately flat, grassy land. The Parks & Recreation Department previously held two public meetings and a community engagement event on the property to gather neighborhood input.

Using feedback gathered to date, staff will present draft plans highlighting potential features like trees, benches, and a small playground. Following this final round of public input, the department will request funding from City Council to implement the plan. If approved, the goal to complete the project and open the park for public use by Spring 2027.
