Residential / Household Hazardous Waste
On household hazardous waste collection days, the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority accepts hazardous substances and ensures that they are properly categorized and directed to a permitted hazardous substance management location. Examples of accepted materials include:
- Acids
- Adhesives
- Antifreeze
- Batteries
- CFLs
- Floor and furniture polish
- Fluorescent tubes
- Gasoline
- Household cleaners
- Kerosene
- Motor oil
- Paint and paint-related products and solvents
- Pesticides
Commercial Hazardous Waste Collection
Businesses may need to pre-register and confirm they meet the qualifying criteria to drop-off their hazardous waste, as well as confirm payment requirements.
