Captain Michael Gore started his career in law enforcement in the city of Danville, Virginia, in 1996, after serving four years in the United States Navy stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. As a member of Danville Police Department, he served as a community police office and a patrol officer.

Gore joined the Charlottesville Police Department  in October 2000. He has served in the Field Operations Division and the Investigations Division until he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004. Gore served as patrol Sgt. on all three shifts, before being assigned as the School Resource Supervisor in 2013.

Gore was promoted to Captain in 2023 and served in the Administration Division for a short time before being assigned as the 2nd Shift Patrol Commander. Gore was assigned as the Internal Affairs Commander in January 2019.

When Gore is not working as a police officer, he coaches football and wrestling at Fluvanna County High School. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Gore is originally from Winston- Salem, North Carolina, and graduated from Robert B. Glenn High School. Gore joined the United States Navy until 1994 and moved to Danville, Virginia. He graduated from Liberty University in 2013 and is a UNC and Carolina Panthers fan.
