CPD Investigates Shooting on Orangedale Avenue Involving Multiple Victims


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - At approximately 11:23 PM on July 4, 2025, CPD officers responded to multiple calls reporting a shooting in the area of Orangedale Avenue. The first officers arrived on scene within 2 minutes of being dispatched. A total of five individuals were injured:

  • A 52-year-old female was shot 

  • An 18-year-old female was shot 

  • A 17-year-old male was shot 

  • An 11-year-old girl was shot 

  • A 9-year-old boy was shot

Due to heavy foot and vehicle traffic, emergency medical units were initially unable to access the scene. Officers and medics worked together to transport the victims on foot and in patrol vehicles, applying pressure to their wounds until additional EMS personnel arrived. All victims are currently in stable condition.

CPD’s Criminal Investigations Division and Forensics Unit have responded and are actively investigating the shooting. Early evidence suggests multiple shooters were involved.
