CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - On July 11, 2025 at 10:51AM, CPD officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 1500 block of Short 18th Street.

Officers quickly arrived and spoke with the victim. The victim informed them that a known male had entered the residence without permission. The victim was able to exit the residence, while the suspect remained inside. Officers then established a perimeter around the residence. Through further investigation, the suspect was identified as 35-year-old Charlottesville resident, Marco Antonio Berberena-Perez.
