CPD Seeks Community’s Assistance in Identifying Unknown Male

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - On October 14, 2025, at approximately 10:47a.m., the male pictured in the photograph below reportedly entered the Charlottesville Area Technical Education Center (CATEC), asking for information regarding a student.

The male individual reportedly displayed a badge to CATEC staff without presenting identification. Staff followed protocol by withholding information and requesting that he leave the premises. CATEC then notified law enforcement and relevant school officials.

CPD has contacted multiple law enforcement and government agencies in the area, including Homeland Security, in an effort to identify the individual and determine the reason for the interaction. At this time, the male has not been identified, and no area agency has been able to verify that he is a law enforcement officer.

If you have any information regarding this person’s identity, please call Crime Stoppers at (434) 977-4000.
